History

 Zift Design is an İstanbul based multidisciplinary design studio creating interiors, furniture, and accessories. Founded in 2009 by Lütfi Büyüktopbaş, the studio submitted many modern projects and participated in many national and international organizations, fairs, and competitions. Zift Design was also awarded prizes in many of these design platforms. Büyüktopbaş also participated in interior design teaching as a part-time instructor, which led the interior designer and academic Dr. Atlıhan Onat Karacalı to join 

the Zift Design team in 2018. 

Shaped by fresh and creative ideas and progressed by production conscious design attitude, the design becomes human-oriented and ergonomic. The Euclidean basic geometry adapts to human anatomy, and this holistic correlation results in total comfort and satisfaction.

One of the most important features of the Zift Design philosophy is to create climate-responsive products. We strongly believe that architecture and design hold the main responsibility on the climate crisis. And only the true architectural decisions can reverse the track. Our 2030 vision is to use mostly recycled material in our products and to raise this phenomenon to 100% in 2040.

 Our goal is to create iconic and reference furniture and interiors through adaptation to the up-to-date technology and material via updating our know-how regularly. One of our major motivations is the city we live in. İstanbul, since the beginning of time, has been both the boundary and the bridge between the so-called East and the West, symbolizing the cultures via the cardinal directions. Synthesis is the key to our multidisciplinary approach. With all this background story in hand, our biggest challenge is the enthusiasm for being a sought-after design firm together with our humble stance. Zift Design was once defined in the press as “highly modern in appearance and yet by no means minimalistic”. All this paradoxical attitude is our unique wealth.
